Baugé.

I love being in Baugé (the little town in the Loire Valley where Xavier's parents have a house) watching Marguerite, a real city girl, let loose and run around barefoot on the old stones in the garden.

The floors of the house are these tomettes (which I've mentioned before), recently restored in this room. They are so rich, these red-stone tiles. They must be full of stories - Paule (Xavier's mother) informed us that cats love to search out the tomettes as they cool when they are made. At a certain temperature they leave their mark. This apparently brings bonheur (happiness and joy) to the home. A very good indentation to have in your tiles indeed.

Baugé means jaunts in a certain little vehicle, Vincent's 60th birthday present from his favorite son (who actually takes advantage of it as much as his dad. I'm a fan too). The Loire Valley is a pretty good place to drive down winding roads and feel the sun on your neck and shoulders at the same time.

Is the Joly house anywhere near Chateau Di Tigne in the Loire Valley?

That's Gerard Depardieu's Vignoble.

He's very proud of the wines that he bottles there. (I worked with him once on a film in NYC).

Bonjour Dear Ones! I am happy you had a week with family before going to work! Do keep us updated on life in Southern France. Be safe. Hugs to all. Mom

Tigné is a bit further south than Baugé, but they are about the same distance from Angers. Excellent that you got to work with such a French legend...

Is that cat print in the tile an innie or an outie?

It looks to me like the pads are little mounds and not imprinted into the clay.

I can't make my eyes see the print as an innie......
